What is Mindfulness?

Engaging in mindfulness practice can bring you wonderful gifts in terms of physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

Being mindful means paying attention on purpose, and being present with things as they are, both inside and outside of the body and mind, and learning to accept these things, and this is cultivated through meditation.

It’s a method of mental training through which we can learn to understand the workings of our minds, leading to the development of self-compassion, self-understanding and improved wellbeing.

Mindfulness meditation does not mean sitting cross-legged on the floor chanting, although you can sit like that if you like!

There is a solid evidence base in favour of the benefits of mindfulness, built through hundreds of scientific studies, and you can discover what it's all about and the wide range of benefits it can bring through the following pages here.
